I have seen about 30% of the rigs here have a water softener and when asked about them I get mixed reactions as to their worth.  I would like to know what members, who use or have used, them think about them.

        Thanks

We have used KDF media filter for years, sometime put a carbon filter in line with  it.  Never needed  soft water.  Can be pricey.

We have and use a portable water softener all the time.  Love it and really notice a difference in the water especially after just regening the softener.  Not expensive to use 2# of table salt and 20 minutes about every 3 weeks

We’ve enjoyed our portable softener for just about a year.  Where we spend 6 months the water is hard and unpleasant.  The softener makes an appreciable difference in how the water feels and tastes.  Additionally it makes cleaning the shower easier and dishes seem to wash more easily and completely.  Maintenance is a breeze.

                We wouldn’t be without it.

We have the Watts RV Pro. Works great and we use it 100% of the time with a pre filter and a post filter. Here is a link to it:

Me too on the WATTS softener and BIG filters  – sediment pre and charcoal post    Would not be without softener or filters in the west.  Water spots and taste.  Regenerate about once a month, twice as often as when in the east.  I also fill my fresh water tank via the filters/softeners.  A bit of plumbing initially but easy ever since.
