        Hi all,

My 09 Cameo has a water leak and is collecting in the trough at the bottom of the window (inside the coach). I thought there’d be weep holes for drainage, but don’t see any. I’m hoping to get help from you guys who may have had the same experience. If not, I’ll probably try sealing top and sides of Hehr windows with a new bead of caulk on the outside behind the glass (frameless type) and monitor for leaks. And if that doesn’t help, I guess I’ll have to remove the window. For now, I don’t see where it’s coming in and don’t see any water damage anywhere around window or in lower basement. Anyone got any ideas or experience?

        Hi Monty,

We have an ’08 with a split window at the dining that does this where the “escape” area is and ours is due to a compressed gasket. Since it’s minor, I just sop it up and covered the seam with some 70 mph electrical tape to help ward off the water.

If you could detail which window and which model unit you have, you’ll surely get a much better answer than this one.

Sure, I have an 09 Cameo 35SB3. In the very back, there are 3 windows (frameless), one big static one and two smaller ones with the capability to open. The one leaking is the big static window.

I would check on the outside for any missing caulk, for sure around the windows especially the top, but all the roof seams and running lights. We had to repair a small leak where the vinyl roof seam and back panel came together. Good luck.

Here is the link for the hehr field service manual that may provide some insight.

We have a 2011 31KSLS and recently had to replace a broken window. The Hehr window is a clam shell design. On the inside is a metal ring with several screws. The screws go into the window frame to clamp the window in the wall frame. On the outside, there is a flange behind the glass and a gasket to seal the outside window to the wall. You might want to check the screws on the inside flange to see if they are tight. If they are, then the problem is likely with the gasket on the outside. I was surprised that the new window I got from Hehr did not have a gasket, so I had to caulk the flange before I set the window in place. Replacing the window was not that big a job, the screws on the inside are all accessible without removing the inside trim, and then the window will push out of the wall.

Might be worth adding the Hehr service manual to the documents file.

Zach’s info is correct; our dining room window was replaced and the gasket would seemingly prohibit water penetration.

Great idea. Uploaded the Hehr Window Service Manual to our Forums Documents. Link below:

An update. Reviewed the manual and it didn’t tell me what I wanted to know about frameless windows. I called several Hehr plants and finally got an answer from the Kansas plant. I’m not sure (but suspect) that all frameless type windows do not have weep holes, but I confirmed that the large, center one on the 35SB3 doesn’t have a weep hole. I checked the screws and all were tight. Checked outside and saw non-uniform distance on this window, towards the center of the window on top, between the glass and the trailer. So, at top, there was more gap in the middle. Might be due to trailer bow or butyl gasket wear or whatever. I’m not sure. So, my options were to remove the window, apply a new gasket, and attempt to seal. It would probably work, but not definitely. Could have the same situation. I chose to apply sealant tape in the lip of the gap the entire top distance and about 4 inches down each side, left and right. I had to cut it to fit. I know it’s not ideal, but yesterday it rained heavily all day and this morning, the trough was dry. Next attack, should it show up again, is to replace window seal.
